Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University has arranged an Expert lecture on Warehouse Management as a part of the pre-placement activity on 21st August 2021 for the second year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management for the batch.Mr.kiran Mistry an industry expert in Warehouse management. He discussed with students about pelleting, instruments used for stacking,accidents that can occur and markings in warehouse.Also provided the knowledge about usefulness methods like LIFO and FIFO. Concept was being explained with the help of examples .Q And A session was also being held at the end of the session.

Mr. Nehal Sutariya

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University has arranged an Expert lecture on Entrepreneurship in shipping industry as a part of the pre-placement activity on 28th August 2021 for the second year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management.Mr.Nehal sutariya is an entrepreneur himself and experience of more than 10 years . He explained in detail about the necessary documents and what is necessary to start a business.A diverse perspective and various new terms were learning takeaway of the session. .Curiosity among student to know more in depth was answered by Mr. Nehal sutariya during the session.

Jiledhar Singh

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University has arranged an Expert lecture on port industry as a part of the pre-placement activity on 4 th September 2021 for the second year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management. Mr.Jilender singh is working currently as consultant and having experience of more than 20 years in the industry.He provided more insight into port Industry and meticulous details that play major role for shipping and port industry.At the end of the lecture question and answer session was being conducted.

Ms. Dipti Shah

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University has arranged an expert series on Personality development and Spoken English as part of pre-placement activity from 6th March-10th April 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management. The speakers of the series are Ms.Dipti Shah-well known personality in the field of English Speaking and Personality Development and her team mates. On 6th March, Mrs. Neeta Joshi, an expert in English guided students for better and effective public speaking skills, helped them to cultivate their speaking skills and shared tips to minimize grammatical errors while writing and speaking. A class activity of speaking practice was also being conducted virtually. Students participated in the session very actively through virtual meeting.

Mr. Bhavesh Baretha

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert lecture on basics of containerization and container transport system as a part of the pre-placement activity on 20th February 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management. Mr.Bhavesh Baretha , a vertical sales manager of Gujarat and Rajasthan in MAERSK company and having an experience of 15 years in this field, he interacted with students about various types of containers ,history of containers and its association with logistics in brief. Modern containers being equipped with electric chip systems has helped in saving time and making container operations easy in container terminals. Q and A session was conducted during the discussion.

Mr.Mehul Khakhi

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert lecture on warehouse management as a part of the pre-placement activity on 13th February 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management. Mr.Mehul khakhi, a professional working with Mort MacDonald group as a project consultant has an experience of several years in this segment and by utilizing the same he addressed students with the basic concepts of logistics , benefits and drawbacks of containers ,types of logistics and many more thing to quote his line "inventory affects everyone " .Warehousing being done in present time compared to past. Covid 19 being a great example of warehouse management in crucial times and nothing being stopped because of better and effective logistics and warehouse management.

Mr. Neeraj Nanda

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert lecture on Interview to office view as a part of the pre-placement activity on 13th February 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management. Mr.Neeraj Nanda with a dynamic personality, received several awards and to quote one of them "Most favorite faculty of the students". Mr. Neeraj Nanda is HOD at BIMS. A session dedicated to Interview, Types of interviews, resume VS CV, tips to write resume, tips to dress up for a corporate interview, Etiquettes .Technical and non technical question in an interview and how to respond in diplomatic manner. Format of resume writing was being provided. It was a truly interactive session through Q and A.

Mr. Vaibhav Shah

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert lecture on "Role of Logistics and Transport system in Railway Sector" on 6th February 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management for the batch. Industry Expert, Mr. Vaibhav Shah associated with "Concor" since last 20 years discussed with students about the game changers in Railway industry. Also he provided knowledge about usefulness of different kinds of container freight stations like DFC, PFT, SFTO and AFTO and its Impact on ports and railways. Concept was being explained with the help of examples and in depth discussion of the railway sector. Q&A session was arranged after the session to clarify doubts of the students.

Ms. Hitanshi Yajnik

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert lecture on Stress and Time management as a part of the pre-placement activity on 6th February 2021 for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management . Time is a crucial factor in today's world and it is being rightly said that "One who manages time wisely,can achieve the desired outcome".Stress management being interlinked with time management in the corporate world makes a huge impact on the work environment . Hence work atmosphere are often filled with stressful task and deadlines and ,how to cope up with such situations that is ,by setting priorities was being explained by Ms. Hitanshi Yajnik. She explained measures like meditation ,work alignment ,problem identification and problem solving are some of the practices that help to manage stress effectively and efficiently. Concepts were being explained with help of illustrations and various types of stress levels like chronic and episodic stress.

Ms. Hitanshi Yajnik

Department of Maritime Management, BKSPMS had invited Ms. Hitanshi Yajnik on 16th Jan, 2020 to help the students of MBA (SCM) and MBA (MM) to polish their speaking and listening skills – a prerequisite before entering the corporate sector. She is currently associated with Shri Chimanbhai Patel Institute of Business Administration as a Lecturer. She has done her M.A in English literature, along with that she has done her M.Phil from SP University and pursuing her PhD in English Literature and Media. As a freelance, she has worked as Copywriter, Proofreader and Content Writer.

Ms. Rashmi Pant

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an expert lecture on presentation and email writing . Lecture was taken by Ms. Rashmi Pant, a Professional market researcher on 9th January,2021.The agenda of the lecture was to guide students How to use company websites for making a general presentation. Learning marketing communication of logistic companies from their websites as an example and to be selective while choosing words for presentation and email writing.

Shri Subhabrata Mukherjee

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an Expert Lecture on logistics and supply chain management on 9th January,2021. The expert Shri Subhabrata Mukherjee has worked with Coca-Cola as COO and having experience of more than 30 years in various versatile fields .The lecture was focused on concept of B 2 C, D 2 C in supply chain and logistics. Understanding strategy like close loop ,EBITDA of logistics and supply chain with problem solving through an active discussion with the help of various example which aimed at enriching the knowledge of all the students. Students from Maritime Management and Supply Chain management had actively participated.

Ravi Lamba

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged a lecture on Shipping and Logistics by Ravi Lamba on 2nd January 2021. He is an expert who is currently associated with ZIM shipping line as sales coordinator. The lecture aimed at providing in depth knowledge on functioning of activities done by shipping lines and economical aspect with respect to logistics management and supply chain management .Brief explanation of various strategies and also the concept 4PL and 3PL was discussed. Active participation was there through Q&A .This was based on expert series for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management for the batch 2020-2022.

Ms. Rashmi Pant

Department of Maritime Management, B K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University had arranged an online lecture on Email writing and public basic speaking as a part of the pre-placement activity on 2 nd January 2021, 10:00-12:00 PM for the first year students of MBA in Supply Chain Management and MBA in Maritime Management for the batch 2020-2022. This session was on email writing broadly covered the basics fundamentals of email writing such as salutations, providing proper content in accordance with Industry requirement. This lecture also covered Do's and Don’ts of writing letter with practical examples. Students participated in class activity like writing email and referring the websites for the references and also learned the skills for effective communication.

Mr.A.K. Singh

The expert lecture on Inland Water Ways was conducted by Captain A.K. Singh, COO, Adani Port and SEZ where he talked about how Inland water ways can effectively reduce the time and cost and thereby increasing the efficiency and productivity of the country.

The lecture was conducted on AWARENESS PROGRAMM ON EXPORTS under the NIRYAT BANDHU SCHEME where experts from DGFT and FIEO came to interact with students on how exports are important and how can DGFT and government can help in easing the business related to export and what benefits one can avail from exports.

Saurabh Antani

The lecture was conducted by Saurabh Antani, Country Head, HR Wallingford, where he gave insights about the technical aspects of port and how a port is built, what are the research and activities involved in constructing port and other civil engineering work that is to be provided during the formation of a port and its smooth functioning.

Dr. Venkatesh Iyer

An expert lecture was arranged by the Department of Maritime Management. The expert was Dr. Venkatesh Iyer, Founder, BrainZunlimeted, Bangalore and also our notable alumni. He had discussed the “Current Situation and future Opportunities in Export”.

Shri BRM Rao, Director, Vimal group discussed on “Impact of Corona virus pandemic on supply chain” with the students of Department of Maritime Management, B.K School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.

An expert lecture was arranged in Department of Maritime Management for 1st and 3rd semester Maritime students.

The topic of the lecture was Port Security and role of Armed forces for Security of Indian Coastal Area delivered by Mr L.C. Hambron

Shri Mehul Khakhi

An expert lecture was arranged by the Department of Maritime Management, Gujarat University on 1st December,2018. The expert was Shri Mehul Khakhi, who is a Project Director/ Business Head- Technical Advisory Service Management Consultancy and Buildings Division. MOTT MACDONALD INDIA has over 25 years of experience in providing business advisory consultancy for various industrial and infrastructure projects.

Tarang Desai

An expert lecture was arranged by the Department of Maritime Management on 16th February,2019. The expert was Shri Tarang Desai, who is a Assistant Manager Logistic Department Reliance, Mumbai and also our distinguished alumni of batch 2010-12. The topics of the Lecture were Challenges to port & logistics industry, Logistics scenarios, National logistics policy.

Mayur Gupta

An expert lecture was arranged by the Department of Maritime Management on 9th March,2019. The expert was Shri Mayur Gupta, who is a Assistant Manager-Logistics Support and Customer Service at Keery Ingredients India Pvt Ltd. and also our noteworthy alumni of batch 2010-12.The topic of the lecture were International Business & Logistics.
